Home Cell Fellowship
RATIONALE FOR HOME CELL FELLOWSHIPS (HCFS)
Home Cell Fellowships are the basic communities that could become the building blocks on which churches are built and are able to expand. An HCF or Small Group typifies a ‘family’ of God where a few people sit around in a circle, facing each other and sharing the joy and benefits of togetherness. They know each other, care for, support, confide, confess, laugh and weep together. They watch over each other and grow spiritually together. HCFs are God’s gift to foster changes in character and spiritual growth among God’s people.
Churches grow when people’s needs are met. In a Gallup research, 70% of respondents noted that the Church today is not meeting their needs. The identified needs were:
- To have a sense of community and deeper relationships
- To be appreciated and respected
- To believe that life is meaningful and has a purpose
- To be listened to and heard.
- To grow in faith
- To receive practical help in developing a mature faith.
The needs above are best met in the HCF system.
HCFs or small groups give people an opportunity to build significant relationships with a smaller number of people. This fosters Oneness and Unity among God’s people.
HCF is reproducible. They do not require much space and resources, yet they can produce/train new leaders and have an unlimited potential for attracting new members and reproducing other HCFs.
HCFs are an excellent way to assimilate newcomers into the Church and help them become involved in the life of the Church. They help close the back door.
HCFs provide a convenient environment where people can LOVE others and experience God’s love. It is a great way to discuss the word of God and pray together.
In HCFs or Small Groups, people can share their stresses and joys of life together.
HCFs are an excellent way to start new churches in several different communities.
Revitalized Churches have multiplied their ministry through HCF leaders.
Most revitalized churches made it a priority to start new HCFs, either through Sunday Morning Classes or Home-based.
Most revitalized churches intentionally connected church members through HCFs/Small groups and addressed the problem of isolation and individualism.
