Welcome to the Church Of Pentecost Boston
ABOUT US
HISTORY
The Church of Pentecost at the Boston District is a Bible-based and Holy Spirit-led church. At our churches, we are continually BREAKING NEW GROUNDS FOR JESUS. During our weekly meetings, revival crusades, and special conventions, souls are saved, believers are baptized in the Holy Spirit, the sick receive healing, hopeless situations are turned around and the saints are EQUIPPED TO OVERCOME the challenges of life. All this is made possible through the glorious power of our risen Lord and Savoir Jesus Christ.
The establishment of the church can be traced back to the ministry in Ghana from 1937, of Pastor James and his wife Sophie McKeown, an Irish missionary from the United Kingdom. Over the years, the name of the church has undergone a few changes until 1962 when ‘The Church of Pentecost’ was finally adopted and has remained ever since. The church has continually experienced the mighty hand of God in its ministry and has since ceased to be a gathering of small numbers of believers in Ghana to an internationally recognized church with branches on all the continents. In the USA, there are 48 branches (districts) and Boston is one of the branches in Massachusetts.
The Boston District was created out of New England District early in 2010 under review and welcomed its district pastor, Overseer G. Mike Portuphy, and family on August 8, 2010. The Boston district comprised of three assemblies namely Boston Central, Lowell, Framingham and PIWC- Boston. The district was also officially inaugurated the same day. The officiating minister was Rev. Andrews K. Donkor; Pennsylvania district Pastor. Also present was Elder. Robert Nyarko, a member of the National Executive. Since its inception, there has been all-round growth in terms of numerical and spiritual growth of members. There have also been numerous testimonies of healings and miracles in the lives of members and visitors to the new and vibrant district. We envision that Boston District will grow-Warmer through fellowship, Deeper through discipleship, Stronger through worship, Broader through ministry and Larger through evangelism. We also aim to promote personal and corporate prevailing prayers in all assemblies, equip the saints to put on the whole armor of God through intensive teachings and bible studies and promote intentional and strategic church evangelism.
MISSION & VISION
Our Five-Fold Purpose: At Boston District We Envision
A mission-oriented district where all officers and members are committed to the great commission and passionate about winning souls, planting cell groups and churches in targeted communities.(Evangelism- Luke 24:47-49; John 20:21).
A doctrinal based-district where saved souls are baptized in water and the Holy Spirit and are identified as members of the body of Christ. (Fellowship-Ephesians 2:19).
A maturity-focused district where God’s people are equipped through the weapon of prayer and teaching of the Word to mature into Christ-likeness, overcome the challenges of this life and prepared for Christ’s return. (Discipleship-Matthew 28:19-20, Mark 16:15; Ephesians. 4:12-13).
A love-filled district where every believer is committed to the great commandment to love our neighbor as ourselves and minister sacrificially to the needs of others. (Ministry-Ephesians 4:12).
A worship-focused district where every believer is committed to the great commandment to love God with all of our heart and express that love through sacrificial giving and true worship. (Worship – Matthew 4:10; Psalm 34:3).
OUR TENETS
The Church Of Pentecost U.S.A., INC Boston District Beliefs
THE BIBLE
We believe in the divine inspiration and authority of the Holy Scriptures. That the Bible is infallible in its declaration, final in its authority, comprehensive and all-sufficient in its provisions ( 2 Timothy 3:16; 2 Peter 1:20, 21)
THE ONE TRUE GOD
We believe in the existence of the One True God, Elohim, maker of the whole universe; undefinable, but revealed as Triune God- the Father, Son, and the Holy Spirit (Genesis 1:1; Matthew 3:16-17; 28:19, 2 Corinthians 13:14; Genesis 1:26, one in nature, essence, and attributes- omnipotent (Deuteronomy 6:4; Job 42:2; Revelations 19:6; Isaiah 46:9,10); omnipresent (Psalm 139:7-12; 147:5); omniscient (Isaiah 46:9-10; Job 42:2; Acts 5:4, 5).
MAN’S DEPRAVED NATURE
We believe that all men have sinned and come short of the glory of God (Romans 3:23; Genesis 3:1-19; Isaiah 53:6), and are subject to eternal punishment (Romans 6:23; Matthew 13:41,42), and need repentance ( Acts 2:38;17:30; Matthew 4:17; Acts 20:21) and regeneration ( John 3:3, 5; Titus 3:5).
